Nebraska Healthcare Reform Study

A Nebraska legislative committee has been appointed to study the impact of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on healthcare coverage for Nebraskans.  In conducting its study, the committee will consult with employers, small businesses, consumers, insurers, healthcare providers, as well as the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Insurance.

Areas of inquiry include:

The effect of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on Nebraska;

  • The role of employer-sponsored insurance and public programs in providing health care coverage for Nebraskans; and
  • Available funding options to ensure a financially sustainable and affordable health care system.

The committee's report to the full legislature is due on or before Dec. 31, 2010.
