NPI Advisory

As of May 23, 2008, Midlands Choice is operating in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (“HIPAA”) by mandating use of National Provider Identifier (NPI) numbers on all claims, including those submitted directly to us by payer clients on a “rush” basis. Claims received without NPI information will be returned to the submitter.

Remember that claims should also be submitted on CMS-1500 or UB-04 claims forms; previous versions of standard claims forms do not include fields for NPI information.As of September 1, 2008, Midlands Choice will reject rush claims submitted by payers on old forms.
