Do Midlands Choice Payers Cover H1N1 Vaccinations?

Plans that have wellness benefits usually include coverage of vaccinations. 

As with any question related to benefits and eligibility, providers are advised to verify coverage before administering services.  For H1N1 vaccines, verification will allow you to determine whether vaccines are covered, and, if so, whether they are subject to co-pays, deductibles or coinsurance.

The telephone numbers to call for benefits and eligibility information are printed on patients' ID cards.  With many payers, you can also verify benefits online.

Most payers are recommending using CPT code 90470 or HCPCS code G9141 for the H1N1 administration and 90663 or G1942 for the vaccine.  However, because the cost of the vaccine is funded by the federal government, no reimbursement will be made for the vaccine, handling or storage.
