As we end one year and begin another, what better time to reflect on where we’ve been and where we’re going?
At Midlands Choice, 2009 happens to coincide with the final year of our most recent three-year strategic plan. Even with all unknowns ahead for healthcare reform specifically and our economy in general, this blueprint for 2007-2009 is still solid. During the past two years, it has provided the framework in which we:
- Implemented National Provider Identifier (NPI) numbers and associated changes in standard claim forms to remain in compliance with CMS mandates
- Improved access to online claim data for payers and providers through our claim tracking system (CTS)
- Upgraded internal systems for updating the provider demographic and fee schedule that is referenced during repricing. It is now updated daily rather than once a week.
- Launched an effort allowing us to reprice physical, occupational and speech therapy claims at the provider level rather than at the facility level.
- Strengthened provider contracting efforts for more comprehensive coverage in selected regions of our service area
- Obtained a renewal of URAC accreditation for Core and Health Provider Credentialing Standards.
We have always been an innovative group and will continue to play to our strengths. In 2009 and beyond, you will see us continue to focus on the core competencies that allow us to provide premier customer service. We also continue to explore avenues to try and grow our existing business, drawing from the strength of a unique position in the healthcare marketplace that allows us to advocate the interests of both providers and payers.
As we look back on one year and prepare for the next, we also want to take this opportunity to thank you for your business. Best wishes for a safe, happy and healthy holiday season.
