5010 Address Requirements

Midlands Choice is on schedule to meet an important milestone in preparation for the new HIPAA version 5010 electronic standards. We have completed internal testing of the inbound 837 and have been in contact with our inbound EDI vendors regarding their readiness to begin external testing.

Address Changes
In preparation for requirements associated with 5010, providers must replace post office/lock box numbers with street addresses and use nine-digit zip codes on claims.

As with any demographic change, we need at least 30 days' notice from the time we receive changes before your organization begins submitting claims with the new information. If information on claims doesn't match the information in our system that we also download to payers, claims may be pended or rejected.
