Due to a mapping problem, providers may have experienced services of Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNP) denied for payment by Aetna. This impacted claims submitted from Nov. 14 through Dec. 17, 2009. While Aetna did implement a "fix", the problem re-occurred for claims submitted from January 22 through January 28, 2010.
Aetna is sweeping its system for all services performed by an ARNP and will automatically adjudicate claims. It will not be necessary to contact Midlands Choice or Aetna to have a claim reconsidered for payment. Because this impacted all providers nationally with these credentials, it is anticipated it will be 60 days before all claims have been reconsidered for benefits.
Aetna apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused providers.
